This is the Southern Cross-Island Highway, a road that leads to eastern Taiwan.

A section of the road has collapsed.

The plants that once grew ahead
were washed down below,
as if another form of life had disappeared with them.

Only broken remains and traces of the plants are left.

Years after the landslide, when the road reopened,
my father and I returned to this place
to observe what remains
and record this moment.
